Personality
There is nothing more exciting to Sam than searching for something, anything, that glitters. He has plans to live full time in Egypt as soon as he is old enough and has visited several times, working after school just to scrape up the money to travel over the summer. Somehow he always seems to earn it back... usually by a method he does not prefer to disclose to anyone. His schoolwork has become slightly neglected as he grows old enough to go off on his own, but he excels in all of his history classes and has recently taken up an Arabic language course so that he will be able to communicate with Egyptian natives. The architecture of the towering pyramids enraptures him. He has excellent navigation skills and can decipher even maps in the roughest of shape. He has located countless places that weren't previously known to exist, but of course he does not tell just anyone where they are, even if they're not that far from his backyard. Overall, Samson has a huge heart. He hates to see injustice towards anyone who cannot stand up for themselves and typically favors the underdogs. Danger is often perceived as a challenge to him and he might remind you of a young Indiana Jones on his best days, although he does not share the fear of snakes. He has a very charming nature that gets him out of trouble in most cases. He is a good friend, but not someone you'd want to have as your enemy either. Life is a big adventure to him and every day is a new opportunity for excitement. |
Career
You may want to call him a grave robber, but he prefers not to use that title, as it comes with a bad reputation. He refers to himself as a "treasure hunter" and no one seems to question him any further. He is just a young kalon who enjoys searching for things. Right? Sam is very skilled in what he does. He leaves almost no trace that he was ever where he wasn't supposed to be, and almost always emerges from his jobs successful. However, he does not keep all of the loot for himself. A portion of it goes to his family, to help them pay for what they need, and another to history museums. Sometimes he even donates artifacts he has found to them, but always anonymously so he cannot be tracked if someone were to become suspicious. Quote: WIP

How did you start 'treasure hunting'? Have you ever been caught? (If you haven't, what would you do if you ever were caught?)
"Where did it all begin.. haha! Well, that may even be stretching the limits of my memories. Ever since I was a small kit, I have had an eye for anything that may not be where you would expect it to be. Even subconsciously, I find myself searching the ground and environment around me as I walk, for something that I might be able to slap the label of "treasure" onto. I had a secret treasure cove in my bedroom while I was growing up, where I would collect all of the items I had compiled each day. It consisted of anything from old bottle-caps, to lost jewelry, to stashes of money. One day I watched a documentary in school about Egyptian burial traditions and was instantly intrigued at whether or not I could get my paws on some of those uselessly buried artifacts. After that, I was smitten. I spent all my time and effort on a means to get to Egypt for the first time, and I succeeded when I was 14. My parents did not know I had left, but they only figured out I was gone two days before I returned because of a carefully enacted plan.
I have nearly been caught several times. I was taken into custody only once, but was later released because of lack of evidence against me (I did do it though). I can usually sweet talk, bribe, or act clueless until my pursuer gives up. And if that happens to not work, good ole making a run for it works just as nicely!"
